Week 3 is about Family. Yes, I missed week 2, because I haven't got a spouse or significant other (get the violins out). So, I thought Id skip straight through to family! I guess it's now the 51 weeks of gratitude challenge, oops. I'm quite fortunate to have quite a close knit family on both sides. Unfortunately, I don't get to see my Sister or other family on my Dad's side as much as I want to, but it's still lovely when I do get to see them. My sister Sarah is one of my best friends, she's a true inspiration and I can always rely on her to cheer me up, or to make me feel loved. I tell her everything (probably too much sometimes) & she's always the first to know my latest gossip or drama, but I always feel 100 percent comfortable with her. She's one of the kindest & loveliest ladies I know, it's such a shame we live so far away! I've also never lived within a close proximity to my Dad, so spending time together has always been limited, but as I've got older I've realised it doesn't matter as much, as any time should be treasured with him. I love going to Essex to see the Eschle's, it's always a mad house but always full of laughs. Everyone looks out for each other, which I guess is a bonus to having quite a small immediate family. I'd like to go down to Essex to visit more this year, as I'll have more money & more time. I do miss having catch-ups and chats with my Grandma, we could literally talk for hours. I'd also like to go to London to see my Auntie Susie more, and also Wales to see my Auntie Liz & Uncle Nick, as I definitely don't see them enough.
I do see my Mom's side quite often, and we all get on like a house on fire. I'm very lucky to have a great relationship with my cousins, whenever we meet up it's full of laughs and I treat them like another group of friends. My Grandad is one of my favourite people, I still can't believe he's 80, as he has a better social life than me! I can always rely on him to cheer me up, or if I need taking to the hospital etc. Everyone who knows me, knows how close me and my Mom are. She is my best friend, and I think that's how it should be. She's the most genuine person I've ever met, and so lovely and kind. I know her friends say the same! She's my rock, and I couldn't thank her enough for everything she's done for me. My step-sisters are also like another group of friends, we always find a way to have fun, and I definitely have some of my favourite and funniest memories with them. My step-dad has been like a second Dad to me for 10 years now, and I couldn't thank him enough. He's not an emotional person, but he's still ever so supportive & I know he'd do anything for me. I'd still like to see my Great Aunties and second cousins more often too, but it's difficult when they live quite far away. Hopefully they'll be more family gatherings this year where we can all get together!
Writing this post has made me so entirely grateful for my amazing family. I do moan sometimes, but who doesn't eh? Family are the best & most important people in your life, and you should be more grateful for them. I'm very lucky to have such a close relationship with all my family members, and I should probably realise that more!
