It's no secret that everyone has pretty much hated 2016. With all the celebrity deaths, Brexit, Trump, new toblerones... But, I'm all about seeing the positives. After all, 2016 hasn't been that bad. In fact, it's probably ended up as one of my of best years so far. Just to show ya, I thought I'd make a bullet point list of all the good things that's happened to me in 2016!
Went back to University
In November 2015, I decided to defer my final year at Uni. I wasn't very well mentally or physically, so I felt that having a year out was probs the best thing to do. Honestly, it's the best thing I ever did. I finally got myself mentally better, after 10 years of struggling. Now, I'm back in my final year, loving it, and actually managed to pass the first two modules with good marks, wahoo! Oh, aaand I managed to get my ethics aproved for my dissertation so I can start my own research! Watch out for Eschle the researcher!
Went back to work
As mentioned above, as I wasn't very well mentally or physically, I took some time off. I didn't work for around 8 months, and it was so frustrating seeing as I've always had some kind of work since I turned 16. In April, I made a huge achievement, I finally went back to work! I loved it, I got my independence back & my confidence, which I never thought I'd get back for a while. I also met some lovely people too, which was great considering I was pretty much housebound for 6 months! Although I struggled to get into work somedays and wasn't fully back to good health, I still felt like I had purpose back. in my life I'm not at work now, but I'm excited to get back to work in the New Year!
Got diagnosed with a B12 deficiency
This seems like a weird one, but it was one of the best things to happen to me in 2016! Since I was 16 I've struggled physically; I had chronic fatigue, muscle pain, nerve pain & joint pain. It was beginning to ruin my life. I was so frustrated and every day I was in pain. Luckily, I had some blood test results back which said I was b12 deficient, and straight away I was put on strong supplements. I literally feel like a new human being! I have energy, I'm in no pain and I actually go out and stuff's now. Pretty good eh? I'mma happy little bunny!
Was put on Anti-depressants that actually worked
As I said earlier, I've struggeld for 10 years with my mental health. Especially in 2015, I really broke down and ended up in hospital various times due to suicide attempts. After my last one in February 2016, I decided I wasn't going to let depression kick my butt anymore. I went to my psychiatrist, and ordered I be put on new medication, as clearly my old one wasn't working. I was put on quetiapine, which is a mood stabiliser; and since then, I've been a 100 times better. I actually sleep, my mood swings aren't half as bad as they were. My anxiety's also reduced and I nearly have my full confidence back. Happy day's!
Drove on a motorway
This is a new one. On boxing day, I drove up to Essex my visit my dad and his side of the family. I'm from Birmingham, so it's around a 2 and a half hour drive on the motorway! The furthest I've drove on the motorway is around 30mins, and I was always accompanied. This time I was completely on my own, and before I set off I really was pooping myself (okay, not literally, but you get the point). I was so proud of myself and I can't wait to go on more motorway adventures!
Worked with amazing brands on my blog
In relation to my blog, I've had quite a succesful year if I do say so myself! I've worked with the likes of Asda, Phillips and Parker any many others and I'm so proud of myself and my little space. I've had this platform for nearly 3 years now, and it makes me so happy to see how far I've came. I also reached over 2k followers on my Instagram! (cheekly little plug).
How was your 2016? I'd love to hear how it was!
