A day trip to the Foodies Festival, Birmingham

If you know me well, you know I like food. And alcohol. Quite a bit. Therefore, I’m inclined to go to any event which has any of these things…

As you can imagine, I was thrilled when I was invited to the Foodies Festival* in Birmingham. I booked my train right away, and off I went! The weather was absolutely glorious, which really topped off the day. I mean, food and cocktails in the sun. What’s not to like?

I was really impressed with the variety of stalls they had. Something for everyone. Meat eaters, veggies and vegans. I was also impressed with the cheese stalls, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many types of cheeses. One thing I will say, is how pretty all the stalls were. Every single one had clearly made an effort, and it definitely paid off.
As soon as we walked in, we could hear amazing live music from the stage which everyone was enjoying. The sound really did fill the festival (in a good way, of course) and added to the atmosphere. I also discovered a new band - Wounded Spirit, from this stage. It’s always a positive discovering new bands.

Next, I’m going to do a whole sentence about this Pimm’s tea pot. Pimm’s is THE drink of summer. Well, my drink of summer. It’s always Pimms o’clock in my house. So when I saw this tea pot, I squealed like a pig. How cute is it, such good marketing and lured me in straight away. Mmmmm Pimm's....

Much to my excitement, we were given free samples of Monkey Shoulder cocktails as we walked around. I’m not a whiskey girl (I had a bad experience of whiskey a few years ago, never again) but I must say, I loved the cocktail and actually couldn’t taste it. I was that eager I even asked for the recipe! *hint* Recipe post coming your way…
I liked how there were a few theatres showing demonstrations. I only got to watch Chef D, cook up an Indian food storm. It smelled incredible and was fascinating to watch. I was gutted to miss the MasterChef Winner Kenny Tutt, but I heard incredible things about his demonstrations. Unfortunately the World Cup called me!

Thanks for the inviting me Foodies Festival and thanks for the VIP treatment! I can’t wait to attend next year… have you been to the Foodies Festival?

*These were gifted tickets, but all opinions, words and photos are my own.
